AC 20 Dimension Tool behaviour

I am having trouble with the behaviour of the dimension Tool

In previous versions of ArchiCAD as you dimensioned to Elements if the cursour changed to a tick as you dimensioned you knew it would be an "associated" dimension ie. if the element moved the dim would follow.

For the life of me with ArchiCAD 20 it is not doing associated dims. Is there a button I should tick or is it a problem that other folks have come across?

The 'Static' option is your problem.
However it is not the cursor (tick) that determines if the dimension node is static or not.
It is the cross-hair icon after you click the node.
Circle cross-hair is associated and a square cross-hair is not.
You actually can't tell until you have clicked the point and if it is not associated click it again to remove it and try again.

Generally a tick cursor will mean you will get an associated node - but not in all cases.

Another tip is to TAB key to cycle through overlapping elements before you click for the dimension node.
The element that highlights is the one your node will be associated to.
