AC 24 build 4007 - Dimensioning not working all the time.

Anyone else experiencing any issues with dimensioning in AC 24 build 4007 USA?

I am dimensioning to the cores of walls (face of studs). One layer of gypsum over metal studs. Studs are set as core and gypsum is set as finish in the composite.

I click on one wall of room then opposite wall. Do the double click to stop adding points. then one more click to pick spot to put line and then it all but disappears.

Some times it works. many a times it does not. .

given up. for the time. Now doing 2 random spots in the room and moving the end points to the face of framing.

i see there is a new build 4018. anyone know if this kills this bug?

Hello,

Thank you very much for the report and I am very sorry about the issue!

From my experience, the issue is usually caused by walls are not 100% parallel to each other. One way to check is to set the 4 digit for measuring angle in the Dimension style, then use the Angle dimension tool to measure the angle between the 2 walls. If there is a small deviation, we will see something like 179.9999 or 0.0001 degree. If that's the case, we must manually reset each wall in the project.

Please let me know if it helps with the issue!

Best regards,
Minh

Per your request.
Here are 2 walls. Both with 90.0000 degree walls. These will not dimension across the room using any method other than placing 2 random spots in the room and moving the dimension line end points.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your answer!

Would it be possible for you to share the file with is for a closer look?
A video of how to reproduce the issue would extremely helpful also!
Please let me know if you need a secure place to upload the file.

Thank you very much for your help! Looking forward to hearing from you!

Look for the "Element Orientation Check" label on BIMcomponents.com. This is the fastest way to check to make sure elements are orthogonal.

Both a video and a PLA have been sent to GS on this issue. The first response was to put my selections nodes at the junctions of walls. I am waiting to hear back from engineering as this should not be necessary to select the junctions and end points of walls to run a dimension line from a wall to a wall.

This is our first project using AC24 and it was migrated up from AC22. Not that should matter. Might be helpful to you to know the history of the project.
