Cant select slab

Hi all.

For some reason I cant assign a label or select the slab other than selecting it from its edge only.

The GIF explains this. The right side is working on a previous job.

The left is not working in the template.

What is the cause of this?

I thought it may be the Quick Selection Tool but with jobs side by side I hit shift and it works with the right side job but the shift command dosnt work on the other job.

As you can see in the new GIF the magnet disappears.

Spacebar is the shortcut key for quick selection (you seem to have quick selection on by default anyway in your tool bar - so spacebar shortcut would actually be toggling it off).

Shift is add/subtract form selection.

Is you slab on a different storey to the one you have displayed?

This will stop quick selection from allowing to to select the surface.

Hi Barry, the slab is on a different storey but the slab is selectable with the selection tool as you can see below.

Yes it is still selectable - but not with quick selection.

For me, if the slab is on a different storey, the quick selection (magnet) does not work on the surface of the slab.

I have to select it by clicking on the edge.

The same for placing labels.

This is the problem you are experiencing, is it not?

But I can select it. Thats the odd thing.

I can select it in one file but not another.

The file that is not working is behaiving as you described.

the file that is working can use quick select for a slab on a storey above.

That below gif is of the quick select tool selecting the slab on a storey above.

See how the cursor changes to the magnet?

I just had a play.

If the slab has a cover fill and the cover fill is set to show one storey down (or up), then you can select the slab on the storey above or below where it is placed with the quick selection magnet.

No cover fill, then quick selection only works in the same storey as the slab.
