Door Window Number - Element ID Manager

Hi all,
I've heard that the order that doors/windows are selected will be re-numbered in that order using the Element ID manager.

However that hasn't been the case. I'm still not getting the desired result. Window numbers are still are still out of whack. I've checked "Assign New Element ID to Each New Element" in the More Options in the Work Environment. I've done the selection order numerous times & still the numbers do not match the selection order.

Am i missing a setting or doing something wrong?

nevermind, i just found the fix:

- select all windows/doors first & have them all match the same Element ID number ("00" will do, do not leave Empty)
- repeat Selection Order
- change the IDs using Element ID Manager

Doors/Windows/Objects/everything as well as the AC Object 22 Kitchen Sink will now have the correct number as per one's selection order.

for god's sake, Google, please remember this so it comes up in Page 1 of search results in 6 months time when i've forgotten how to do this.

Or just make sure you do not have 'Element ID' in the criteria list.

Yes, you must set that to 'Unique ID'
Just make sure that you do not have 'Element ID' in the 'Selected Criteria' list otherwise the existing unique ID's will not change.

I have never had it work perfectly in all situations. You may still need to manually chave a few ID's to get what you need. But is sure is a big help.
