Getting glass to look like glass

Hi,
I'm fighting with CineRender in AC19 to get my glass looking good. It's an external view with no real interior content modelled, so I'm wanting the glass to mainly reflect the sky. However, it keeps coming out black or dark grey using the 'Clear Fast' default, but logically it should be relfecting the sky if there's no interior illumination?. I put the glass to a solid mirror and then it renders with a ton of noise. All I want is a simple reflection of the bright sky!

It also seems to have weird dark artefacts in places. (I've turned the 'bump' off, so that's not the cause).

Does anyone have any tips?

Bump was going to be the first tip to reduce 'weirdness'.

The reflection is due to refraction and the angle of your camera (and thus the light). To clarify, picture from wikipedia where a polarizing filter is used to change the angle of the light https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brewster%27s_angle#/media/File:Poloriser-demo.jpg

A dirty trick is to enable 'reflect only floor/sky in the options > general options of cinerender (when you go into detailed settings).

Other option is to just add the picture of the sky to reflection channel.

Lots (and I do mean LOTS) of in depth info is here: http://helpcenter.graphisoft.com/guides/archicad-20/archicad-20-reference-guide/user_interface_refer...
