Hatch patterns for "earth" and 'story setting displays'??

In Autocad, (sorry to keep referring to it but..) there was a hatch pattern that was called 'weave' or 'herringbone' or something like that which architects used as an "earth" pattern in section.

Archicad's "earth" hatch pattern is a bit lacking and I'm being given hell for it at the office where I'm consulting for.

Anyway I can either A) import any autocad hatch patterns into archicad or
B) perhaps how do i edit/modify the "earth" hatch pattern to make it look like the example (see red lines).

Also, the story settings.....how do I get them to read as "42'-0" not just +42' (only showing the "feets" and no inches"??? please advise.

You can create the fill easily in AC.

A friend suggested I use the "merge drawing" technique?
is this not the way to do it?
to create an autocad drawing, put the hatch patterns which I want, then use the "merge DWG" into the Archicad file???

is this not correct??

AFAIK that works also, though I prefer to use/create my own instead of using Autocad's.

If you read the manual you will see that it is really very simple to do.

It might be easier to create it than to import it and you will learn a new procedure.

What about the second part of the question?
How to get the story settings to read as "FEET AND INCHES" rather than just the FEET ???

You can chage the story level dimension settings under Options > Project Preferences > Dimensions > Level Dimensions > Display of Zero Feet & Inches:
