Hello, everyone

I hope this tip can help import files from Archicad 25 to Twinmotion using the Datasmith Direct Link.

1 - In Twinmotion choose Import > Import Direct Link > Your Source > Archicad Project

2 - In Archicad goes to Windows >  Palletes > Datasmith to synchronize the file.Screen Shot 2021-09-13 at 12.00.13.pngScreen Shot 2021-09-13 at 12.00.36.pngScreen Shot 2021-09-13 at 12.00.50.pngScreen Shot 2021-09-13 at 12.01.38.pngScreen Shot 2021-09-13 at 12.01.59.pngScreen Shot 2021-09-13 at 12.06.30.png

That's it 😉

Assuming the updated Datasmith exporter is the same for UE?

I tried this and it worked but there is one additional thing: you will need to have Twinmotion 2021 installed, for me it did not work with Twinmotion 2020, where the "Import Direct Link" option was not offered on the interface. After I upgraded to Twinmotion 2021, the option was there and everything was fine.

There needs to be an export option to FXB. All previous TM exportations had it. Datasmith is nice if you want to use direct link features, but we know that is really not best practices as DL has limitations. Also, how can we save to an AR app like Arki without FBX?

You can make a wish for this feature, we can vote on it and if it gets enough support, we can submit it to GRAPHISOFT for consideration.

If you do make a wish, please post its link in this thread.

We can't vote on it yet (besides "likes") or have I missed something? They have promised a new wish functionality but is it implemented?

You can enter your wish as a post or give it a like. The new feature is not implemented yet for wishes.

Or, and call me crazy, Graphisoft can simply add something that is becoming the industry standard.

Would anyone be up for contributing to a crowd source funding to have a knowledgable Archicad API developer create an export extension for saving to FBX? There are many drawbacks to the direct link process (of which Datasmith is also a part of). This has been discussed ad nauseam in the TM forums with all experienced and TM "stars" agreeing that saving out directly to FBX is the best solution. It also allows us to bring into other third party spaces (like AR viewers). One of the drawbacks to killing FBX is that any project started prior to AC25 cannot be continued in AC25 since the previous import into TM is broken.

This is a real request. We could shop developers, ask what their fee would be and if enough people are interested, fund it. I would rather do that than create a wish, vote on it and have it presented to the developers for them to only reject it; wasting months or weeks in the process. This would be the assumed response since they already made a decision to discontinue it.
