Quick way to copy one or more layers incl. items on layers?

Is this possible already?

I waste a lot of time duplicating specific layers so that I can make design variations to compare...

Yes it is with a small work around.

- select and copy all the content of the layer you like to copy, best to hide all other layers. If over several stories use the double marquee.
- now hide the layers you like to copy
- paste
- you will get a past option, choose create new layers for elements

- Archicad will create new layers with the same names plus #1

Thanks - that helps a lot

One 'bug' is that the new layers won't be created in the same folder as the existing ones, but it's straightforward enough to filter the list and fix that

It's good that there's at least a workaround but a native tool for this would be better

Yes - currently layers have to be used to make up for a few flawed/missing fundamentals and and a better way to duplicate parts of the layer structure and it's content would definitely be useful. And as usual the functionality has already been implemented but it's potential not fully realised. In this case it stopped with layout book's subset - why can't we do the same thing with layer folders or any other attribute?
