imported pdf prints sometimes

imported a pdf into a worksheet and have drawn over it to show the small changes required. The drawing looks fine in my layout view but when i print (to pdf or directly to printer) it only prints the elments i drew over the pdf. Fiddled with it and got the pdf background to print perfectly but now it won't do it again. Obviously i am missing something?????

An easy way is to overlay the two views as drawings on a layout. sheet.

You are welcome Rick.
How about selecting the placed pdf, opening its settings box so we can see the pdf settings, taking a screenshot and posting that here?
