"General Light Sources"

Does anyone know what the point of the "General Light Sources" is?
They don't appear to actually Shine light on anything. When I render it, all I see is a big white cone.

Let me see if i can turn Lake Placid into Lake Perturbed.

The humble, yet heroic General Light is the savior of many LightWorks renderings.

This point source casts no shadows and is used in scenes to mitigate shadows and provide luminosity that is otherwise impossible.

If you have a sphere in your view, turn off "Show Light Cone."

Since it casts no shadows, it does not add to rendering time. You can use many of these light sources in a scene without increasing rendering time.

You should have my book that shows many instances of intelligent General Light use. The attached image uses a single shadow-casting source - the sun, and three general lights to create the internal ambience. This is a three minute rendering.

Right On.
Thank You, I haven't perfected it yet, but I at least got the light to show up. I will practice.
