Usually when you select an object in 3D view, the orbit origin automatically changes to that object. However, it's not happening like that in my case. I would attach a video but apparently I do not have permission to upload videos, according to Graphisoft.
Operating system used: Windows 11 Home, AMD Ryzen 5 5600H with Radeon | 3.30 GHz | 24.0 GB RAM

Is this not possible in axonometric view?
Not that I am aware of.
I usually just marquee or select what I want to see and show selection/marquee in 3D.

Maybe your video is too large, the allowed max. size is 75 MB:
Alternately, you can post screenshots.

It's not the video file, which is only 11 MB. I think this forum has a rule of not allowing newly signed up people to post certain types of media right away (I couldn't post images in my very first question).
Anyway, I will try to explain using screenshots. The first screenshot shows the entire model. When I orbit, it orbits around the whole model, which is fine. The second screenshot shows me selecting a single element. When I try to orbit now, the orbit origin doesn't change so it's like I am orbiting around the whole model, which is super annoying.
Hope I am making myself clear 🙂

That depends on whether you are in Axonometric or Perspective view.
Perspective will rotate around what you select.
