So..in a nutshell, shadows aren't showing up in walls that are left in an "existing" state, yet once a new window, door, opening, removed window in a demo state is created....then the shadows on the walls in their existing states....show shadows...........what's happening here?

I’ve had this before and for the life of me cannot remember how I got round it. I’ll dig out the file I fixed it in and post it here. Comment back if you haven’t seen it by tomorrow to remind me.

much appreciated for the help.
I'm sure it's a renovation filter option setting that I just don't have it set right.
thanks,

Any luck on finding how you resolved this?

Assuming I have understood what you are trying to do correctly I think the issue is that you need to tell the Renovation Filters for the Existing Graphic Override NOT to override drafting fills. See attached screenshots.

The shadow appears to be overlaid on the elevations as a drafting fill.

THANK YOU LEE.
it was indeed these settings as you pointed out.
Seems somehow these settings I had them off/tweaked/messed with...whatever...and thru my entire shadow fill patts off. this did the trick. thank you.
