Hi All,
We've made a number of usability improvements, based on feedback, to Design Options in Archicad 28.
For more details:

What should be done is that design options have 2 separate windows for it's management, should be single screen for that.
"Design Options" and "Design Option Manager" should be ajoined not to jump between these windows similar as "Layer Combinations" and "Layers"

I found a bug and reported it to the french Graphisoft website. The developers have confirmed the bug. Do you know if it will be fixed for the official release of the 28? It's causing me a lot of problems in my daily use of design options.
NB: When you cut most of archicad element by removing a part of it, one part stays on the good design option, the other moves to the main model...

We are aware of this issue, and have fixed and are fixing a few similar.
We don’t have a target yet on this exactly, but I’ll review the case.

Is it finally going to work properly with modules on AC28?
I still have to insert many instances if I want to control the visibility from Model view options, in other words, it becomes worse. It's been discussed by users around here.

Hi James,
A more serious problem is that the grouped items move together even if they are otherwise in the inactive option, even though I have disabled the modification.

Hi James,
Do you think it may be possible in the future that Zones can be updated using the Update Zone command and they will update to the bounding walls from multiple Design Options that are currently active? At the moment it just errors out.

We had a similar issue that non-editable design options would edit with marquee - which we've since fixed. And we have this case in our database too (for groups).
Would you expect the whole group to not move? Or move without the elements on non-editable design options? When an element is locked in a group, it prevents the whole group from being moved - I'd expect the same in this situation.

Hi Lee,
"Future" yes, but which future I don't know. It requires fundamental changes to Zone behaviours/calculations, which obviously could break existing workflows. So it's a technically challenging area.

Hi James,
Thanks for the reply. Im guessing a workaround could be to magic wand a poly line around the perimeter of the room and apply a Zone to that if it’s set as a zone boundary.
