Enhanced Design Options

Hi All,

We've made a number of usability improvements, based on feedback, to Design Options in Archicad 28.

• Common management tasks are now available via the Design Options palette, including create, delete, rename and duplicate. All teamwork enabled.
• Context menu available from Design Options and Set in palette. With clearer setting of Default, and linking elements to a selected Design Option.
• Search for Design Options in palette.

Indeed the option to show all, or st least more than one design option at once seems to me, to be the most frequently asked question in my discussions about DO.

We want to compare different option just in one view in design phases… without the need to create 'views'and layouts.

Yes, of course the intersection seems to be the biggest problem there. But I think, that there can be fondnd a way to organize that well… i.e. with different colors for the different option parts.

Allowing the display of multiple options within one set would enable Phasing. While I recognize this is not the primary intent of Design Options, and Phasing would be best delivered by enhancing the Renovation features, we all know it takes many years for such developments to occur and there are a lot of competing demands on Graphisoft's limited resources. Given all that it makes sense to enable as much flexibility as possible within each new feature. This is a perfect example of where that could happen.

This wish for showing all DOs at once can be done if developers let option sets can be created optionally like layers’ folders, a kind of sorting/differentiating DOs, unlike the obligatory current case which makes option set created automatically when creating the first design option.
