Archicad 28 is crashing continuously on macOS Sonoma. The scenario is as under:
1. I installed Archicad 28 Technology Preview, side by side with Archicad 27. Both were working fine.
2. I uninstalled Archicad 28 Technology Preview and Archicad 27, once Archicad 28 was released yesterday. I also deleted all the files from Library folder, pertaining to both.
3. I installed Archicad 28 and downloaded the licence file.
4. Archicad 28 was working fine on my Admin account of Mac, but was crashing continuously on start up when opening on Standard user account of my Mac.
5. I created new standard user and tried to open Archicad 28 on it. But it was crashing in that newly created standard user account also.
6. I uninstalled Archicad 28 and reinstalled it several times. But it was crashing continuously.
7. I reinstalled Archicad 27 again and to my surprise, Archicad 28 started functioning again on standard user account also on my mac.
8. I have submitted all the bug reports. Right now, Archicad 28 is working fine, but I have to keep Archicad 27 side by side.
pl. Let us know, if I have done anything wrong, while installing Archicad 28, or let me know, if this is a bug.
Operating system used: Mac Apple Silicon macOS 14

Hello,
I have found your crash report with the given ID in our system.
Unfortunately you are trying to use Sonoma on a hardware, which is not supported by Apple.
Please return to a supported version of the OS, or update your hardware.
Best wishes

Hi,
I have been waiting & waiting the solution for this problem, since Archicad 28 was released. Till date, there are no updates for the same. Can you please tell me when Archicad 28.1.0 will be released? It has been very long since last update.
Kindly note that it is almost 3 months since I have reported this issue. If I had not found out the work around that installing Archicad 27 side by side, is resolving this issue, Archicad 28 would have been totally useless for me. I once again request you to please look into the matter, seriously.
Regards,
Rikhav

Hello,
Thanks for the update.

Friday
Same issue with latest hotfix 28.1.0 on sonoma and sequoia with M1. Archicad 28 crashes directly with standard user upon trying to create a new project. works fine with administrator account.
Friday
If it works fine with an administrators account, then the software itself must be OK.
I would say the problem is in your user profile.
Do this at your own risk, but if it were me, I would try deleting anything to do with Archicad from your user profile.
Or of course take note of the crash report number, send the report in and follow up with your local support.
Barry.

I have yet not tried preview version Archicad 28.1.0 as the solution to this bug. But let me clear that I had initially tried creating the fresh new standard user account in macOS Sonoma and then in macOS Sequoia anlso, and Archicad 28 crashes continuously on standard user accounts in both macOS. So I think that the user profile is not corrupted & this is a bug.
I had submitted the crash reports to local support here. They have also seen this issue while screen sharing and admitted that this is a bug. Even Graphisoft has also admitted it.
The only workaround that I have found out was to install Archicad 27 side by side and this problem will go away instantly. I do not know the reason, but this is a proven work around for me and I have done it and using Archicad 28 without any problems, there after.

The preview 28.1.0 release notes clearly state that crashing under standard macOS user accounts under Sonoma is one of the fixes in that release, so it is a known bug and they have now released a fix… so download and install it.
the Insight article gives you more information and links.

And you are positive that you have the 28.1 preview that was just released installed? Surprising since one of the bug fixes listed is crashing under standard accounts on Sonoma. If you are getting crashes, do contact tech support with the crash IDs as soon as you can so that they can fix it for sure before the final release of 28,1
i have a feeling that you are running 28.0.1 and not 28.1
