I have accomplished this before, but alas not today.
My usual procedure is to open the imported DXF/DWG survey file in ArchiCAD, toggle through the layers, decide what I want and don't want, select everything I want to include, drag a copy a 100 feet or so away, put all lines etc. one one layer, add hot spots, and then save as a new library part in the project library file. I then place the new part, delete it from the project library, resize to the accurate size and resave it. I'm done!
All simple enough for me and it usually works. I have attached a screen shot showing that when i attempt to place the object I get this error message [which if I check stop allows me to continue]and some missing lines. Further when I select it selection dots indicate that the missing lines are there.
Needless to say I am confused. I would prefer if at all possible to continue importing surveys in this manner as it is simple and efficient, for me anyway. I am not a GDL inclined operator in case someone is looking to make a convert out of me, just thought I'd get that out of the way. I would really appreciate any helpful hints.
TIA

- move the stuff closer to the origin
- do a Check duplicates - usually dozens in a DXF
- check whether the lines really join at corners (use chamfer and/or Intersect from the Line extras)

Thanks for replying, I had given up and gone in a different direction, actually creating a new library object through the new object method as opposed to my simplified save as method. [A mini self taught GDL lesson]And it worked first time..........
But for the sake of my education, does this mean that I need to extend the contour lines until they intersect the property boundary lines?
-
As I indicated I found another way to get to the dance, and in the end that's a really good thing, but I still want to understand what was hanging me up in my normal method. A problem is always minimized if you understand "what's really going on". I appreciate the help.
