Clones of Layouts

Wouldn't it be nice if we could CLONE layouts into publisher so we would never forget to add that sheet to the PDF or Print set?

It never fails that I need to add a sheet to my Construction Docs after I've already created my PDF Publisher. If we could CLONE Layout Subsets, then my publisher would automatically track those added sheets.

You already can (it's the huge "Add Shortcut" button in the Organizer)

I don't think so... When CLONING is chosen, there is no opportunity to choose LAYOUTS as an item to clone.

No need for cloning (as you say you can't clone layouts anyway).
As Tom said in the Organizer have you Layouts in the left pain and the Publisher in the right.
If you have your layouts in a folder then select that folder and click on the big "ADD SHORTCUT" button.
It will be added to your publisher set and now what ever you do to the layouts will happen automatically in the pupliser set.

You think incorrectly then. It's been possible since Archicad 10 (maybe even in Plotmaker?), It's just called "Shortcut" instead of "Cloning".

Open up the Organizer with the Layouts on the left and Publisher on the right. Select either the name of the layout book at the top or any subset on the left. You'll see a huge button to create shortcuts at the bottom of the left column. Click that and it creates a "clone" in the Publisher Set.

True. I tried and it works. I did not know that. Good stuff.

Been using it at least since 10 and lovin' it.

Duane, isn't it nice when something you want is right there (albeit sort of hidden)? Yeah, a little embarrassing too, specially when old man Waltz takes you behind the woodshed for not knowing....

ArchiCAD is weak in so many areas, but when it comes to cranking out the sheets, it really shines. Whatever team put together the publishing/linking systems needs a raise. Maybe they could consult with the Calculation guys?

Well butter me up and call me stupid. Usually this crap is hidden behind that little "mystery" arrow in the dialog boxes... But that button is HUGE... How did I miss that?

Thanks! Wish recanted. Carry on!

Well... To clone a layout, just Option-Drag (Click - Hold - Press Alt/Option key - Drag) it in the Navigator or Organizer. Clones nicely, I think, with content 'n all. At least it works here!
