Do we have an AUTO SAVE utility for this product?

Within Archicad is there an auto save feature?  I get lost in the work and can go  hours without saving

Operating system used: Windows 12

In Archicad, unfortunately, no.

Automatic backup as a feature is available only in BIMcloud (but not in BIMcloud Basic).

You should train yourself to get into the habit of pressing that CTRL+S every 10 or 15 minutes, and after every complex element creation/modification step.

You could also set up some kind of scheduled alert to remind you at regular intervals to save your project, if that works better for you.

There is an autosave in Archicad which saves to a recovery file. This means that if Archicad crashes, your progress is likely going to be there when you open Archicad again.

In all my years using Archicad, I don’t remember a single time where Archicad crashed and I lost work. That said, I do tend to save regularly, so I attribute my luck to that. I imagine that if you spend hours without saving, there is a higher risk of data loss or file corruption.

I think the best practice is to save regularly. That way, your main file stays safe and healthy, and you are not relying only on the recovery file or risking potential data corruption.

From the very beginning of working with Archicad (and honestly with all software) I found an anchor point where after doing X action, I always throw in a ⌘+S.

For example a couple of my triggers In Archicad are: every time I’m done modeling or drafting a few items, I hit ⌘+S. If I'm messing with attributes or done with a layout and moving to another one -> save. Also, if I’m going to stand up from my computer, I ALWAYS hit save no exceptions.

It’s 1000% worth finding a habit or trigger that helps you save more regularly.

Get in the habit of using ctrl-S (cmd-S Mac) frequently.  You should avoid going hours in any software without saving 😎

This video from Graphisoft released 15 years ago informs us well about Archicad super-save auto-save capability.

@Eric Milberger please don’t say (this product) again & better say Archicad, thanks.

while there is this backup file that saves in the background,  i agree with everyone and would not let my luck be determined by the software, no pressing ctrl + s every now and then is key to survival
