Doors not showing in 2D (plan view)

Bare with me here, as i'm a student (and novice with archiCAD).

Im currently modeling up a design for uni, and its been quite successful so far, i've had no problems really. There's alot of great tutorials floating around

However, i've come to a road block. When i install a door into my walls, it will not show the door swing or leaf on 2D (plan). I know the door is there, i can select it and still edit it, and in 3D i can see its in its correct position, but it will not show up in 2D, no matter what i change.

Im sorry if this has been covered before, but im desperate for some help with this. It's got me stumped, and very frustrated.

Thanks

Check your Model View Options.
You will probably find it is set to show just the opening.

Hi there stranger,

could you please add a signature and by that tell us what ArchiCAD version you are working in, and what OP system as well (not that this particular issue has anything to do with the OP system, but for future inputs)?

Anyway, a quick guess is:
- that you somehow has turned the doors and windows OFF in the Model View settings dialogue?
- have not used symbolic 2D symbol in plan view and by mistake hasplaced yet another wall?
-or even turned the 2D symbol OFF by misstake?

... screen dumps of AC 11 version

Thanks for the reply, i'll sort out my signature when i get a moment 😉

I've worked it out now too.

It was the 2D symbol, i had it set to "symbol", but it wasn't showing, so i think i tried every one other than "overhead"....which of course was the one that made it show up

Thanks once again

"Symbolic" should work, but the wall containing the door needs to be set to Symbolic Cut also. If you do not set the walls to Symbolic Cut, then you will need to understand the Floor Plan Cut Plane, which is covered in the help files.

And if all that does not work, maker sure your story height is correct.
I've had story height (for what ever reason) end up as one foot.
3d will look right, but 2d won't.

Im having huge problems with my story heights actually.

Everything is connected and it looks fine in 3d, but the story lines are all about 3 meters above where they should be.

Is there a way to fix this? Ive tried moving the ground line so its actually on the ground...but everything else moves with it, and it changes my walls.

As i said, im a novice, so i've no doubt made loads of errors....but its all part of the process

Hi,
as a "newbe" to the program it is always easier to understand the process if the story settings is set to correct heights (this can always be edited later on) and then, while modelling the building, try to think "by story":

Ext. walls go from bottom to top on each story.
slab placed on zero on each related story
int. walls go from top of story's slab to bottom of slab laying on story above

This means that each story has their own set of ext./int. walls, slabs etc.
So try to get your story heights correct and adjust construction elements to "belong" to the right story. Least amount of headache by doing it this way

By working with stories from the very begining it is easier to comprehend what is happening in AC;
when changing 2D appearance settings for construction elements that actually passes up to the next story, saving work related views and/or changing settings in Floor plan cut plane dialogue.

And as you move along and gain experience in AC you can deviate from the basic modelling techniques because you understand what action has effect on what on your model's appearance.

me again,

sorry forgot to tell U that if U edit you stories to the correct height you can then use the command Elevate to actually move the elements' insertion (z) position, and they'll still keep their individual measured heights.

Of course this comfy´ command will only work if you have all (or almost all) of you elements on the very same (faulty) z placement height compared to the story height.
