2D or 3D ? for materials list?
I use the Profiler Tool sometimes for rebar. Also, the Drainage objects in the library are hulpfull.

what is your process for rebar using the Profiler Tool ?
making Z rebar in 3D has been driving me nuts for a week. I want to place it in the .pln file so visible in 3D.
I need YZ with X set at 1/2"

That post was from 2004. Now days we have the the Complex Profiler for things like rebar.

Before I explain how to do it using the complex profiler, what version of ArchiCAD are you using?

ArchiCAD 15. I am a total newbie at it.
Not unfamiliar with CAD in general though.
I will post some pictures when I get more time. The idea is to use the Complex Profiler. You will love it.

It works by making things 3D out of fills.

Select from the Menu at the top of your screen Design - Complex Profiles - Profile Manager. This will open the Profile Manager screen.

Click New. Now the drawings screen is for creating a Complex Profile.

Draw a circle the size of your zbar.
Then select the fill tool and use the magic wand (hold down the space bar and left click) to create the round fill.

Thats it.

Click Store Profile. Give it a name like #4 zbar or what ever.

Pressing F2 will take you back to the Floor Plan.

Draw a line. Now select the wall tool. This is where some pictures would be helpful. In the Wall Default Settings the first window is Geometry and Positioning. In this window select the last Wall Complexity icon on the right;Complex.

The next window below is Floor Plan and Section. The second window down is called Structure. This is where you need to select Complex Structure. This is where you click on the black arrow and choose the Complex Profile you want to use.

Now you can use the magic wand ( hold down the space bar and - left click on the line.)

With this Custom Profile selected for your wall type you can click on a group of lines, slpines, circles, archs, etc... or one at a time to turn them into zbar.

This is essentially how you can make any custom profile.

now you will notice that the round profile you made is not so round anymore even though the curve looked very round when you made it.

There is a setting for that which is supposed to help. I am not sure that it does.

On your main Menu bar click Options then Magic Wand Settings.
This is supposed to help. I am not getting it to work very well for me.
This is because in my case there are some graphics card complications to fuss with as well as the ArchiCAD settings. I don't know the solution for this. I am still working on it.

I followed all the procedures but when I go to 3D View, I can't find the Zbar.
Assuming that all this works, the goal is to create a Z shaped rebar to insert into the wall that will be visible in the 3D Views.
I am attaching the end of the wall jpg.
what we are looking at is a poured concrete 2'6" x 2' planter box that is the buttress and functioning 'footing' for a 6' block wall. It is impossible to dig a normal footing as the planter box will merge with an existing rock retaining wall.
the Z shaped rebar will epoxy into the existing slab.
When you said zbar I assumed you meant zbar.

If all you need is a a virtical Z shape you can just draw that as walls.

If you want a horizontal Z shape the Complex Profiler is great for that too.

As for why you can't see it in 3D...
Select your Z part and view it only in 3D. Can you see it like that?

Is it drawn on the correct story? Layer is on?

I would like to help you more but I don't understand what you need to do.
