Edit part of mesh

How do I change texture at only a part of the mesh, Ctrl+F doesnt seem to work on mesh?
What if I create a Big picture that will cover the mesh entirely and "paint" all those small details like leavs, dirt etc. in Photoshop.

Basically, there can only be one material for the top of the mesh. You can use a bitmap associated to a material and apply this material to top of the mesh, but it will only be visible in rendering and OpenGL window if textures are on.

I saw a demo of Architerra 2 more than 2 years ago, and at that time, a different color could be applied to a mesh, based on a hatch drawn in plan.
