Floor Plan Cut Plane & Wall/Window settings

Alright, I've read everything that there is on the posts regarding the FPCP, but...

I have a 20+ foot wall with windows at two different heights and want to show only the lower ones in my Floor Plan (along with the doors, of course), and then I want to create a different view with a different FPCP that will show the upper windows only. I understand that the FPCP can be unique for each view.

I don't fully get the differences between the various settings for walls (Projected, Projected with Overhead, Cut Only, Symbolic Cut, Outline Only, & Overhead All) and how they relate to the Automatic/Own Story Only setting.

When you add to this the setting for doors & windows (Projected, Projected with Overhead, Symbolic, & Overhead All) the combinations are staggering to my poor little brain.

I have tried moving my FPCP level to various heights, and changing the floor plan range and absolute display limit, and nothing changes regardless of the setting for the walls & windows (I've tried many dozens of combinations based on what I think I understand from the ACHelp & the manual).

If anyone has any help, it would be appreciated...

Could be digging your own grave there mate!

It is quite a long story. Are you sure you've read my explanations here or even here?

If you still can't grasp it, please post a screenshot of your scenario.

Yep, read 'em all. Re-read the ones you noted, still confused. It sounds like many others are in the same boat, and the workarounds (like setting the FPCP to 0) don't provide solutions for my situation. Isn't this tool supposed to make things like this easy? Arggghhh...

OKay, well you will firstly need to set your windows to one of the Projected methods, because if they are set to Symbolic, they will show in the floor plan window, regardless of where the cut plane is or their elevation.

Then you need to set your cut plane height so that it passes through each of the windows for each of the views, like the attached image.

What you may be missing is the fact that you actually need to create a view in the Organizer for both cut plane heights. Then you need to invoke these views in the View Map to see these effects and switch between them. If you are just changing the cut plane height and navigating in the Project Map, only the last cut plane height will be stored and you'll be going around in circles thinking we're all crazy.
