So I have to model a Tower with basic rectangular shape and the only details that have to be present are the windows openings. They don't need to have glass or frames just the opening shapes.
The thing is that I've already all the facades of the building drawn as line objects in Archicad (of course), my question is ->> How can I used this line drawing to make the holes in the wall? Or should I do it in another way?
If the openings are rectangles, then I'd use Matthew's suggestion as things will be parametric.
However, the Morph Tool in 16 is a perfect way to quickly do what you want given that you already have the elevation line work, particularly if any openings are non-rectangular.
Simply align the linework over each elevation and with the Morph Tool selected, magic-wand (space click) the outline of each opening to create a morph polygon of that shape. Note! The morph is created exactly in the plane of the section/elevation that you're viewing - so place these reasonably close to your building so that the morphs are not floating in space a long distance away.
Now, go to 3D and extrude each morph to penetrate your building walls - mouse down on the morph for the Pet Palette to appear and click the extrude option.
(You can multiply - even in matrix shape - the Morph, extruded or not, in the 3D window - but not in elevation [general multiple in elevation is an old wish].)
Finally Solid Element (boolean) subtract the 3D morph shapes from the walls. With the SEO palette open, select all morphs for one wall, click the Get Operator button, select the wall, click the Get Target button. With Subtract as the operation, click Execute.
