MEP 27 - The New Feature that never happened

DGSketcher

Can someone from Graphisoft please step up and own the current abject failure to deliver the renewed MEP Modeller?

Today I joined the many others who have had to return to using AC26 in order to deliver on our MEP commitments.

We all pay out for GS to deliver improvements to AC, yet here we are 7 months later with a key feature broken & software we can't use. Can someone at least tell us what we can expect in terms of delivery of fixing this MEP debacle and when?

It's bad enough struggling with the 3D screen "grey outs", and the disappointment of new features that suddenly became experimental, but finding a fundamental tool is no longer useable... 🙄

Hi, I would like to know how can we set the variation of the section of an Air Duct to take place at a side of the duct and not at the center as seems to be the default setting that doesn't seem it can be changed. At least I did not find any setting for this.

I'm attaching an image to illustrate what I want to achieve.

Hello @Achille Pavlidis ,

In the upcoming version, a new feature will allow you to select any edge from the duct.

Thank you!

Hi @Lina-Zouaghi,

You mean next version 28 or next update for 27? Which is happening earlier?

@Mahmoud Qenawi This feature will be available in version 28.

@Lina-Zouaghi Really?! I was sure you meant the next hotfix!

We have to wait for AC28 to have this very basic function, that was available until AC26?

We literally never design air ducts that do not keep one side constant!

Basically the new MEP is useless, this is utter disappointment

@Lina-Zouaghi Are junctions (not take-offs) going to be available through favorites? Right now, every time it becomes a junction, even though I don't have insulation on, it still turns the insulation on and ignores all parameters. I have to manually change them every time.

hello @vdentello

In AC28,  junctions settings will automatically follow the route settings(insulation, flange...), there is no longer a need to manually adjust the settings each time.

Sorry if some of issues were already mentioned earlier. But discussion has lots of info, read only first half...

pipe_polyline = new routing pipe elements (pipe, elbow and reducer that now are one element). I guess same is true for ducts, though i didn't try them. Everything stated below refers to AC 27.

If pipe_polyline is shown on several floors it's hard to tell which part is indeed on current floor and which is layed on another floor... Should be display option same as for stairs with different style for higher & lower parts + it would be great to have 2 options (style depends on project level or storey level)

Connection multifloor_pipe polyline to another pipe joins wrongly. Same issues if pipe_polylines are at the same level, but have different Home_storey.

There should be a Boolean option "Same" for pipe_polyline Isolation. Usually you set same thickness for all elements. Add option to make it the same for pipe, elbow, reducer - same as old pipe element has same style option for its connection_1 and connection_2.

Two pipe_polyline can't be joined via "Intersect" (used for joining simple lines, but in previoust versions it was convinient tool to join 2 not paralel lines that have intersection point).
Same refering to "Adjust"
It would be nice to be able to edit pipe_polyline a bit similiar to "wall" geometric settings. Particularly when there are several pipe_polyline with different configuration in plan, but all have last element vertical ending (riser) at surtain level. In previoust version it would simply mean selecting all 10-20 pipe pieces and making them longer at once. Now if there is a need to make pipe_polyline end at higher/lower level (floor height change or another reasons) risers (pipe_polyline) must be selected and manually changed its end (drag hotspot). Repeat for all pipe_polylines same operation...

About opening projects made in AC26 and lower versions -it's unacceptable. User literally gets objects that can't be changed. If that is so hard to transform it during migration into whole pipe_polyline with Tees and other elements, then tranform pipe, elbow, reducer into pieces of pipe_polyline. AC27 piping consist of pipe_polyline + connected Tees and another pipe_polyline. That means after migration Tee_26 becomes Tee_27 and all other pipe elements - pipe_polyline. Of course, in-line elements must be changed to be able to "wokr" for pipe_polyline.

Creating schedules for pipe_polyline elements isn't easy, though it seems to be solved in AC28.
