Schedules: Custom list scheme

Hello everybody,

Recently I've been trying to get my firm to use more of the features of ArchiCAD. I've got the interactive scheduler tamed for all of our schedules, EXCEPT, the options don't provide me enough leeway to format them the way we like for publishing to Plotmaker. So I began looking into setting up list schemes which appears to offer me more graphic & text control.

I set up a list scheme, and started editing it. But when I go to create & format the header, footer, background or fields sections, I am presented with at group of preset RECORD TYPES, and if I start to modify anything the record type jumps to custom.

Is there any way to create my own record types so that they appear in this menu? Editing the "custom" record type is a little tempermental, because if you accidently select on of the record types, your changes aren't retained. (I've already lost 6 hours of experimenting and refinement)

If anyone is a little lost check the attachment. The menu I want to change is highlighted in green.

P.S. ArchiCAD 8.1 v2c

It would be helpful if you posted a screenshot of what you want the schedule to look like i.e what you are trying to achieve.

Origionally we were drawing the schedule with lines and inputting the text manually. Obviously this is a huge waste of time, so I got the interative schedule set up.

The problem with the interactive schedule is that I can't vary the size of the text in the different rows/cells of the header and/or control specific instances of the vertical dividing lines. (see attachment and see P.S.)

So I tried working with a list scheme and was able to get %95 of the schedule to look like I wanted it to (different text attributes in the header and different linecolors for sections of the schedule.)

THEN I LOST IT ALL! Because every modification that I made to the header, footer, background or fields, caused the RECORD TYPE to change to custom.. when I reopened the file, all those settings were lost.

I want my modifications to be saved for future usage. The changes that I make would show up as a new entry under "record type" for example: "trm-schedule heading" & "trm-schedule item". So that they can be retained.. or used for other schedules.

P.S. Once you take a look at the attachment. What I'm trying to acomplish is getting the header to resemble as closely as possible, the header that we drew in 2D.

The text in the header needs to vary in size and color
- "D O O R S C H E D U L E" needs to be 18pt font
- "HWD. NO." should wrap to a second line
- "HEAD" & "JAMB" should be a smaller point size

The dividing lines need to vary in color also
- all the sub groups of "D O O R" and "F R A M E" should have red divider lines and blue should be for major division lines.

And please ignore the values in the interactive schedule as it is not edited yet.

Does anyone actually use list schemes?

I'm getting the feeling that I'm currently the only person trying to get this to work. (in AC8.1)

Is this much easier in AC9?
