Whenever I "save a view and place on layout" the view is placed litterally a mile away from where the sheet is. I have to zoom all, select everything, find the view then move it 5,000 feet back to where the sheet is.
Is this a known issue, or am I doing something wrong?

Make sure that the layout you want to place the view on is current.Yep - do that.
Then, a square will appear; it is a placeholder, whose center is the center of the view. Snap it to the center of the sheet - or wherever you want it - and that's it.Yep - do that, too. Then when the drawing vew is actually placed, it puts it several thousand feet away from the sheet.
Now, if your view is defined miles off the origin, or if your model is miles off the origin, that might be the problem?
Any merged or XReffed DWG?Nope - single pln created by someone else - way back in ver 8, though. Could 10 screw up the origin point?

This might be it. How do you know where the origin is? Can you re-define it? Or do you have to move the entire model closer to it?

How do you know where the origin is? Can you re-define it?To restore the user origin to the project origin, double click the origin button on the Coordinate Box or toolbar. Zoom way out and you'll see it.

James wrote:Or, as I've found with the odd DWG where the origin is so far away. I set the origin from the coordinate box then using the line tool, draw a line with x,y set to zero and drag the rubber band into view. Then select all and drag to where you want the model placed.
