curved walls - textures on the top side

is there a way to get the texture to align with a curved wall when seen in plan?

textures align when i rotate a straight wall but as soon as i bend it, the mapping seems to change to some kind of world space.

is there any object that maps correctly when curved (plan view)?

This is an occasional problem. I tested this issue today with a brick texture.

The illustration shows the solution I use: a thin toping slab where an independent 3D texture alignment can be performed.

thanks for the reply Dwight. unfortunately i have either missed the point or not explained well enough. i'd like the brick to be curved like the wall, like in the attached. is this possible?

For this you will need to make a custom texture with the bricks explicitly drawn to a curve. I'm not sure what program to use for this. There might be a Photoshop plug-in that would do the trick.

If you don't need it as a "Wall" per-se, you could draw a 3D brick and rotate-copy it as much as you need.

thanks Guys for the suggestions. it was actually for some paving and some coping stones (the whole house and garden is slightly curved), but then i realised that to do the paving like this would require starting from the wide end and cutting the sides of each slab to fit the curve so i have abandoned this idea as budget won't allow it.

for the coping stones i just created shorter walls and followed the arch shape as i needed the hatches to follow the coping stones in the sketch render.

if anyone is interested, i created the arch above in modo. using a 'freeform' 3d app is a great way to make precise changes to a texture. this method can be used, for example, to straighten bricks in a photo or to curve the bricks as in the example. it offers far greater control than you could get in Photoshop for example.

some better mapping would be good in AC, as would a more efficient way to apply materials.
