vertical lines under roof elements in 3D

Does anyone have any idea as to what causes the vertical lines under the roof elements to occur in all of the View > 3D View Options > in the lower list (from 3D Details through to Simple Shading with Shadows) but not in any of the upper list vectoral options?  and how one can remove them from the 3D model? They make the renderings unreadable.

That is the 'Trimming Bodies' on screen view option if you want a name.

It does look like Quirk has turned that on.

It won't print.
