Archicad 20 performance drop

Anonymous
Not applicable
We are experiencing some serious 2D performance drop after switching from 19.
Already reported, but I want it to get some more attention as the problem is crucial and we have already switched some projects to 20.

Both machines are xeon w3565 with NVidia card (650GTX and quadro K620).
Project running smooth parallel in 19.
Drivers updated. GPU set to high performance.

Videos of the problem:

Any suggestion would be good.

I'm not sure the statement is correct, the AC17 migration issue is having a huge performance issue.
And what exactly does 'move elsewhere' mean. My tone may seem a bit aggrieved and that is probably due to the fact that I am.

it takes 50 seconds to generate after a simple 3D object move

I had same pan/zoom performance issue under win10.
Try AC20 in different user account.
If it works you should delete archicad 20 branch under HKEY_CURRENT_USER from registry in your user account.
(It will reset your working enviroment!! Save it before delete!!

I find the cause of 2D lag is generally 1 of 2 things.

1. Use of symbol fill in floorplan ie: concrete cover fill is a killer. If you need to use these set up an override or use layer control so that it doesn't generate this while you are working.

2. If you are using the save as Object to create objects with out redoing the 2d symbol then thousands of lines will be used to create the 2d symbol.

May not be your issue, but may help. Not sure why this would be worse in 20 than 19

One of the articles is specifically about lag in 2D Navigation:

Helpcenter offers some workaround. Really? Workaround for software costing 5K€? They must be kidding.

GS Development is already working on figuring out the root cause and fixing it:

Until there is a fix, they offer workarounds so you can keep working.

Very strange workaround. Resetting mouse drivers instead of working in AC19?

Making sure all of the 3 mice I use have polling rates of no higher than 500hz has not fixed the 2D lag for me. V20 is unuseable for me at the moment I hope the hotfix is not too far away and it does the job..

See this post by Nuge.
Maybe he has discovered another potential cause and remedy.

It may still be a mouse problem though and this was a completely separate problem with similar results.
