Maverick and Project Preview

Rick Thompson
Expert
Would someone using Maverick confirm what seems to have happened with me. Since then (I assume) the Finder icons no longer display what was pasted into the Project Preview window. The generic AC icon will display, but takes a while to do so, and at first does not show up. It's very delayed. I actually use this quite a bit looking for the right version of a file.

thanks

Known issue listed in the Wiki article, Rick. They're working on it.

The extension to display previews, as well as the spotlight extension, both cause crashes / console entries... See the Mavericks thread for this and other issues. Am in iPad at the moment, so will leave finding that thread to you. 🙂

I'd like to report that as of ArchiCAD 18 (v7007), with our firm running x64 Windows 7 Ultimate, -Project preview images will work for icons so long as your saved ArchiCAD file types are .pln

Saving out a mod file for something like a detail library of separate detail files and changing the extensions from .mod to .pln will activate the saved project preview you created almost immediately, if not after a window refresh if on a server over a network.

Advantage: You keep the small file size a .mod would make, and you get the icon for reference in thumbnail view in File Explorer. Likewise, overwriting the file and maintaining its .pln extension will not increase the file size to that of a usual .pln

Has anyone figured out if this is resolved for ArchiCAD 19? -Our office has been trying to find a good time to upgrade, which is always a pain with teamwork in the mix.

Hi All,
This is a known issue. The part of the GSShellExtension that handles MOD files can currently not handle Database format. The part that handles PLN-s can interpret modules, since PLN-s are Database files, as well. The choice between the two is made based on the file extension.

So this is working in a limited way currently by design. We have entered a request based on your reports.
Best, kata
