What happens with old version files?

Hello!
I have a complaint!
I know that new version of ArchiCad can't open files from very old versions!
This is very sad for such a professional program!
What about if i have a project made on version 7 thirteen year ago and the client need to make some changes on the plans?
I need to install version 9 and then version 11 and then version 13 to finally open the file on version 17!
Maybe Graphisoft should make a small utility program to convert files from any old version to the newest version!

These have been available for some time so no need to complain and/or feel sad.

Here is a list to most of all the times this item has been discussed

Thank you!
That is useful but again it solves the problem partially!
You have to use more than one converter sometimes!
Anyway i will try to use them!

There are only two steps for some cases and three in one.

AC17 will open all files down to version 8.1 which was released in 2003

for prior to this version the converters will open
  • AC10 opens up to AC 6.5 (1999)
    AC09 opens up to AC 5 (1996)
    AC07 opens uo to AC4.1 (1992)
Therefore to open a 22 year old file you will need three steps AC07 to AC10 to AC17.
