issues exporting to dwg

I am working with another architecture firm and they are working in Archicad and we have AutoCad. I have worked with other firms that use BIM systems but I have not run into this issue. The files I have received from them have made all the layers white, thus making all the lines have the same line weight. Is there away to remedy this issue or am I SOL?

Your not SOL... but the Archicad user may need to tweak the dwg translator.
