Interested to know, is anyone storing back-ups in addition to the SaaS default snapshots?
If so, how is this done?
It's not good practice to only ever have one back-up copy and only on the same server as your active server.
While acknowledging that it appears Google is stashing these back-ups somewhere for us, the below description from the SaaS guide doesn't inspire confidence that we could get timely access to them should something fail with SaaS itself.
..."
Snapshot Files Location
Snapshot files are saved to an external location in the Google storage system. This location is not configurable."

Just in case anyone was following this.... the answer is it can't be done.
Or at least it can, if you want to manually download your snapshots one by one.
Let's hope an automated workflow for downloading back-ups appears on the Roadmap.

Hi Blair,
Not quite a year on from your post, are you aware of anything that has changed?

Can a Delta Cache still be accessed when SaaS is down?

Well....not one that I've been made aware of, other than an "add it to the wishlist" response on another post:

Hi @Blair_C,
This might be possible with the BIMCloud API. Just a rough idea though. Haven't tested it myself yet.
Hope that helps,
Bernd

BIMcloud API is more about uploading - downloading files, which is not equal with the PLN and BIMProject files that Blair is talking about. As of now, there's still no automated option to get offsite backups of projects hosted on SaaS.

For any company larger than a handful of people having the ability to take automated offsite backups is absolutely business critical. The lack of this just shows that Graphisoft doesn't really know how to develop enterprise grade cloud solutions, or they just don't care.
Look at the BIMcloud software itself, it isn't really a serious business application. No TLS support built-in, no password policies, no SAML integration, poor tools for managing files and backups, no high-availability features...
I wish someone would develop a superior open source alternative so we could stop using BIMcloud altogether. But then again abandoning Archicad as a whole is becoming more of a goal for many after the price increases.

I’m thinking a python script using Selenium or BeautifulSoup, to automate the accessing of the webui, might be the only way currently.
Not pretty but might get the job done.

It is possible to automate it and I am about to launch a BIMcloud backup service. Anyone interested in early access, hit me up.
