FIRST TOUCH WITH TEAMPROJECT

Hi all,
this is the first time I need to do some teamprojects, but I don't know how. I'm totally begginer in this area od Archicad, so my first question would be do I need any extra router for connecting with my colleague, because we are working in distance of about 30 km. I said this because i see lot of you are using this BIM technology if you are working in the same office.
I would be very very grateful for anyone who explains me step by step setting up thos parameters. If there's is any link for those settings it would be easier not to torture you, but sending me that links.

thank you laszlonagy. Good tutorials, but i think there's missing the most important part - how to connect with other person.
I set up everything like in the tutorial. I'm the server and my colleague should be client. I made his account as draftsman, but now what is his step? How can he connect on my server?

Using BIM Server within an office is a piece of cake - pretty automatic. The steps are in the video link given by Laszlo below... when you click on the Mac or Windows icon at the end of the video.

Accessing it from outside the office LAN takes a bit of setup... click on the WAN link at the end of the Windows or Mac video. (Note that there is a separate WAN setup video for Windows or Mac. Do you have either a static IP address for your office internet connection, or a domain name? You can get a domain name for free at dyndns.com. Have you opened your modem and router ports to allow external communication to your BIM Server? This requires accessing the web control panel for both your router and DSL modem (or similar equipment) and varies based on your personal hardware installation.

What should I do with that?
And if I set up all those parameters, the other person who is going to work on the same project with me, need to do following steps:
teamwork -> project -> open/join teamwork project -> add more BIM servers -> then import my domain name -> port stays default and that's it?
I think i'm wrong in somewhere, am i?

look i'm really not involved in all those stuff, so i have all amateur questions.
After creating my host service which looks like davor.dyndns-home.com, should i activate it in my router settings. I am sending you screencapture of that settings, and please teach me if i need to fill those fields

Attached is your screenshot for others to see more easily. The domain name on that screen should be davor.dyndns-home.com and the account/password would be those used to by you to log onto dyndns.org when you created this domain name. This allows your router to automatically communicate with dyndns and update your external IP address if it should change. It does not open the ports though. That must also be done...

See this site for some ideas about opening the ports on your router and/or DSL modem to forward them to your BIM Server. You'll need the model number of your Pirelli unit.

Your client will not have to do anything with ports - only to enter davor.dyndns-home.com as the server.

This is for you piece of cake, but for me it is nightmare which lasts more than a week. I have done everything but nothing again. Installed pfconfig. followed instructions, added bim servers on application list which should be followed (cause there was not listed on default list) with tcp and udp port 6005. That is the port i see on my BIM preferences/discovery port. I don't know what am ia doing anymore.
am i asking too much if i ask you to try to connect with me throughout my domain name? You will probably see what is the error and tell me what i didn't configured right?

Unfortunately, while setting up a BS for use within an office LAN is a piece of cake, the initial setup for access over the internet takes time and knowledge and is slightly different in every office due to equipment differences.

I do think that Graphisoft should have a document that illustrates the steps for at least one common router (e.g., Netgear/etc) and DSL/Cable modem so that people can use that as a basis to figure out their own situation. The only information that they provide that I know of is the article I mentioned earlier:

Graphisoft gives an illustration of port forwarding for a completely separate process - sharing a WIBU key over the internet - in this article:

The blue screenshots there show the idea of what must be done for BS: you have to forward all BS ports to the local IP address of the machine hosting BS. This way, when someone outside the office tries to access your BS via your domain name, the router sends those requests to the BS machine for processing.

Trying to connect to your BS will not tell me much. I would have to Skype screenshare with you as the router/modem/etc setup can only be done "inside" the LAN. This can take a fair amount of time that I don't have at the moment, but would want to get paid for. It may be best to hire an IT person there, someone familiar with network setup.
