BIM Server Setup Key Points

This article is aimed at users of the FREE BIM Server. Applies to BIM Server 18 and above. A number of things changed in BIM Server 18 from previous versions. Below are key points to know when getting started.

What is my BIM Server address?

BIMcloud / BIM Server login dialog within ARCHICAD.

  !!!  DO NOT USE - 127.0.0.1 !!!  DO NOT USE - BIM Server Name

What is a valid address? It depends on your needs:

1. I will only use BIM Server within in my office.
   • USE - Private IP Address or Domain Name
2. I will use BIM Server in my office and outside the office. I have a VPN.
   • USE - Private IP Address or Domain Name
3. I will use BIM Server in my office and outside the office. I do not have a VPN.
   • USE - Static Public IP Address or a Fully Qualified Domain Name

Proper Address Format

Tip: You may omit the "http://" prefix when typing the address. Both your browser and ARCHICAD will amend the prefix automatically after entering the computer address and port.
