UPDATE: registration process is now closed. We will proceed with some administrative tasks and the access links will be sent shortly.

Graphisoft is proud to announce the launch of the product preview phase of our software development for Archicad 26. This is in lieu of an expanded Beta period. This year, we changed our product Beta process to make it more streamlined, efficient, and effective. However, recognizing the need for customers to try our upcoming release in advance and in order to collect your feedback, our product preview will be launched at the start of our Beta period when all languages of the preview software are ready - INT, USA and GER, around April 14th.

If you would like to participate in the preview, please submit your request here.
Feedback regarding the product preview can be provided through the Jira Service Desk, available after registration.

We are looking forward to your participation and feedback in the upcoming User Group - register here .

Thank you very much for your interest!

Sincerely,

Product Success Team

Yeah, Archicad is indeed great. But the current discussion is if Archicad should go the structural engineering route or not.

Archicad users are doomed to work together with engineers, so if it's possible to do it into a single or the same platform, it would be even more interesting in my opinion.

So here's an interesting observation... The AC26 wishes thread that I started, now merged [HERE], has within it only one reference to "Structural... connections". At no point in that list is there any sense of interest for development of integrated structural design. There are plenty of other strong themes that would boost AC's standing in the Architectural field, so why aren't these the priority?

I have said since SAM appeared that working with Structural Engineer's should either be through IFC or create discipline specific independent software that can read .PLN files. And if GS can't produce a best in class fully featured independent Structural Design Software then it should step back from such development. Or more simply, stop dragging Archicad down with unwanted features reliant on low hanging structural fruit that serve no purpose to the architectural user.

@DGSketcher As I have already explained it previously, architecture can't be dissociated from structure. It would be very dangerous to think of architecture without structure at the same time.

I never suggested structure be dissociated 🙄, what I am suggesting is with current technology (processing power, storage, etc) & human capability, the fully integrated workflow doesn't make sense to most design practices. Treat the construction design process as a collaborative function with discipline specific software that fully serves the end user need and you will have far more success than providing an expensive & complex program where the user only needs a small portion of the toolset. This isn't about understanding the design process, it's about tool efficiency and workflows. Go think about the construction training process and the evolution of a small single discipline design practice or specialist services provider and tell me how supplying a bloated & expensive software package full of irrelevant tools helps marketing?

How do you think the Microsoft Office suite would function if they merged all their software together? MS clearly identified that even with their primary tools, those running Word don't need all the Excel functions available in the same package. Why have GS not learnt from this?

Integrated Design & Delivery Solutions are different from the Microsoft Suite Office logic. IDDS ought to use collaborative work processes and enhance skills together with integrated data, information and knowledge management to minimize structural and process inefficiencies by also enhancing the value delivered during design, build, operation, and across projects.

IDDS is just an alternative concept based on idealism driven growth aspiration factors. IDGAF, look it up. Its essence is reliant on eloquently describing allegorical concepts intended to place the author in a position of intellectual advantage by implying the reader cannot appreciate profound concepts and should therefore adopt a position of subservient humility whilst simultaneously providing them with a patronising acronym to assist in perpetuating the authors self-aggrandising prowess.

For the typical user, to put the problem in plain english for you, you don’t need a need a saw if all you do is hammer nails.

And those who hammer beyond the nails, what would we do for them?

Then they buy a saw! 🙄

Let's see what will happen after the BIM concept with Archicad in the future.

Here's how the IDDS evolves:

As you can see, it would seem that Revit is closer to the last step than Archicad. That is one of the reasons why I have no problem with Archicad's innovations. If there is no evolution, we will return to the starting point.

when the Archicad 26 will be available in the PT-pt

@Jmoeda unfortunately the Preview version will be available only on INT, USA and GER localized versions. The PT version will come later with the regular commercial release calendar.

I see GS is in the way to decide wether to divide Archicad functionality into two modules one for Architectural design and one for Integrated design otherwise it forces all users to be Architectural Engineers who use only one Archicad.

@Mahmoud Qenawi Through the work environment, you can apply the profile you want:

@Mjules Sure but in modules maybe less functions one for only Architectural design so all new features toward integrated design could be avoided, only a viewpoint.

@Mahmoud Qenawi For me, this can better help improve collaboration between architects or architectural designers and other professional bodies in the field.

With this kind of development, Archicad will be a more effective tool for architects in a modern context. Their structural and other strategies will be better defined from the early stage of their projects. They will have less trouble putting their seal on the plan sets.
