KeyNote for Archicad

We were recently asked to create a General Notes tool by a user on this forum.

I thought about it during my usual GDL induced insomnia; I really have to stop getting excited about potential at 11:00 o'clock at night.

And decided I could also create a Key Note tool within the same General  Notes tool.

For clarity; a Key Note tool is a database of notes you apply to the model as labels while a General Notes tool is for the box of "required considerations" notes you add to a drawing document.

The tool I have created is called Infinite Note
Infinite Note can access extensive databases of typical drafting notes.
Databases can be customized from within the tool and are available in every project; update the data in one project and all projects automatically receive the updates.
Each note is comprised of 16 parts which can be independently applied via the Model View Options controls.
Check it out in this short video: Cadswift - YouTube - Infinite Note for Archicad

Hi @Kristian Bursell,

Awesome job, looks pretty decent and comfortable.

Is it possible to assign a common value to each type in order to then integrate the different IFC values into the documentation under the guise of common values?

Hi @Qualifa,

Thanks, for your kind words.

I do plan to add classification and IFC properties as an option, however I have not yet implemented it in the current version.

I have the code for accessing IFC and classification properties so it would only take me a couple hours to add it to the tool. So if any of our subscribers ask for it I will add it straight away.

This would, as you suggested, integrate different IFC values under the guise of common values.

Interesting and definitely a buy. Only thing is, why only 16 main groups? It would be good to have it as infinite similar to the sub-items you have shown.

Any chance that would happen in the next update of the tool?

The reason there are not infinite groups is that each group has its own set of parameters that need to be established in the library creation; they cannot be established by the user.

I can add more groups, as many as you would think you would need but I cannot make it infinite. When speaking with the companies that requested this tool, 16 was sufficient for the way they organise their groups.

If you subscribe to the tool then I will create as many groups as you need. Though I would probably also implement a "number of groups" parameter that would effectively hide the groups you don't need. So it would behave as though you were nominating the number of groups but there would be a limit.
