In order to lay some groundwork for some better freeform modelling tools I think we need the ability to draw 2D Hotspots, lines, arcs, splines, etc in 3D space. These may in fact need to be independent tools from those used for purely 2D drawing as you would need to be able to input Z coordinates for points, and do things like manipulate bezier curve handles in 3D.
These 2.5D tools would behave much like the HOTSPOT, HOTLINE, HOTARC, etc in 3D so you could use them to create reference lines in 3D for construction using other tools.
In particular I am hoping these could be used as the basis for further 3D modelling commands such as complex extrusions currently not possible using tools accessing the Complex Profile library. Such as this:
