Can we please have a bigger difference between the Archicad version icons, maybe the version number included in the icon. We generally run the last 3 versions and they are all very similar. Can the .bpn icon also be made very different to the standard .pln icon, maybe make it red.

I agree!! The only difference between AC 25 and AC26 is subtle shadowing. The name is the same the color is the same. We also run several versions and need to keep them separate especially since it takes time to load and unload the wrong version.

Wish going as far back as AC8.0 so I wouldn't hold my breath…

Just FYI, if you want to check which version of Archicad a file is saved in you can use the Quicklook feature in macOS and that will show you the version number. We introduced a file naming protocol where the Archicad version the file is saved in has to be included in the filename.

It's madness, it can't be that hard to implement, it's surely just a different icon file.

Yep, we used to manually switch them around.

AC24,AC25 and AC26 icons are almost the same, because AC remained the same between these versions.

If need be, and you have admin rights, you could go into your registry, or just use a 3rd party program and edit the default icon for each of the relevant file types?

On Mac it probably still is a copy-paste to program info-palette icon (the small one, and you'd need to authenticate). You would still have to draw the number by yourself on top of the original icon.
Or a little bit more sophisticated way from 2009:
which will replace all sizes of icon appearances.
I didn't test that myself, only the copy-paste in Mojave was tested.
You can see the version on Mac in Dock when hovering on it.
And in the program shifter too, but only with hovering on it.
But if you need to know the file version, I'm not sure that's easy to change. At least it would be more teadious.
Still I would vote for this change of a little version number, if only in the program version, and at least in those bigger icons. Maybe not in small ones, that might be too little text to understand. Looks good (ver 6) and informative on the Rhino symbol in the screengrab, I think.

Or maybe not that difficult though:
From 129 on seems like the ones to go and alter.
And boy, have they drawn some icons for the program, huh. That 12212 files in there, and some of them are a series of different sizes of icons.
