Auto-labelling for lines, arcs, splines & polylines

Using ID, and any of the line properties as auto labels. ie length of segment, colour, style etc.

This would not only help in identifying the line type in conversions but it would be helpful to use lines as identifiers for sewers, water mains etc. If GraphiSoft can find it in their technical expertise to create 3d lines (as requested elsewhere) then we should be able to label them as well. Even if we don't get 3d lines etc. it would be nice if they could still give us the labels.

It'd be really useful to be able to label the length of a polyline, for notating escape travel distances.

There is an add-on that can do this (by SimpleAddOn) but it'd be far smoother to control natively.

I think this wish stills aplies so many years later, doesn't it? Or is there a way to label line/polylines lenghts? (I know you can get the line lenght and note it, but I´d like to get an autotext for that)
