Better DWG import/export

Why use an xref dwg rather than a placed drawing?
To take advantage of hooks and a better graphic representation.

On the other hand it is sometimes impossible to use a dwg without having to modify it before its import. Archicad's Xref function then becomes incomplete and therefore unusable.

I want the import of DWG to be as simple as using the placed drawings (with hooks)

An example about how a thermal insulator is translated by Archicad :


Only thermal insulators are exploded.

The solution :
1 - Change "Opening options" about the DWG translator.
2 - Input DWG by Xref with the right DWG translator.
3 - Open the Attribute manager and replace the type of line concerned (mine is called "dessin2|Continu").
4 - You are able to organise your kind of 2D line translation to automatise the thrid step into the DWG translator.

We are able with Archicad to input DWG
