Default to current version of Archicad

When I open an existing Archicad model I wish that it would default to open in the same version that it was saved in. I have a about four versions on my computer, and use all of them on various occasions. When I get back to my most current AC18 project, it often opens in one of the other versions. I then need to exit Archicad and reopen the project and Archicad with the Windows command 'open with'. Considering how slow AC is to load, it is both annoying and time wasting.

So basically you would like the system (or something) to remember for each individual ArchiCAD file the AC version it was last opened in so double-clicking the file would open it in the proper AC version?

Loving Archicad since 1995

Hovering over a pln file - You will get the info which version of AC the file was created with. (at least on Widows)

I agree this would be useful.
I too use many versions.
The files themselves do know which version they were created with - even down to the actual build (hotfix) number.
I think the problem is that the actual Archicad program is just called "Archicad.exe" (on Windows system anyway) no matter what version it is for.
So the operating system simply assumes the last installed version is the one to open with - unless you assign a different one as the default program.

In Mac OS, the "Get Info" command opens a dialogue window
where you can select/change which program you want to use to open the file.

Unfortunately, with ArchiCAD, ... it doesn't work.
Always reverts to the default.
