Distinguishing Archicad Icon versions

This is supposed to be an appeal to a common sense.
The fact that Archicad icon of versions 10, 11, 12 and 13 can not be told apart is teetering on the edge of stupidity. I can not believe we are still struggling with such a basic error in UI design. We do not have the very same icon for two fundamentally different functions in AC itself so along this logic we must not have the same icon for so fundamentally different releases as e.g. 12 and 13 are. I do not have to go to details explaining an impact and consequences of mistakingly opening and resaving a file with different versions.

I believe this is easily fixable even in the next hotfix as it requires just a few hours of one designer (and I know there is a plenty of talented fellas at GS who would fix this in no time).

Customising icons by users is a fairly futile job especially in a big firm environment considering the shear number of installations as well as frequency of hotfixes which revert any icon customisation to default.

This wish has been repeated so many times even during alphas and betas that it is not funny anymore. I am truly annoyed by the current status especially seeing the solution triviality.

this seems like a half-hour exercise for the GS gurus;
however, the bigger question is why we even have this situation -- AFAIK no other software coerces their users with the burden of maintaining multiple versions of the application and libraries, for all their old files.

Never mind the icons! I'd like to have 'Archicad 15' displayed in the banner at the top of the screen, so I know which version I have open. All latest versions appear superficially the same.

Or do you mean some other banner?
I'm not familiar with Macs.

................. Keith, you can it is quite easy, see attached.
Select your app in Finder and right click to open Contents then follow the attached.
Text Edit will do if you do not have Property List Editor.

Beats me why GS do not do this in the first place if they can for window$

That worked! Thank you so much for your natty diagram. The chances of my working in the "wrong" version are now substantially reduced.

One thing though. This was completely foreign territory for me. I had to use TextEdit, as the Property List Editor wanted me to save my changes as an .oo3 file - to where? That was a bit puzzling - I couldn't find any existing file of this type to overwrite.

Foreign to me also Keith. It was Geoff Briggs who first showed us how to use Property List Editor.
See attached. This is how I save each time I change anything.

This issue has raised its ugly head again, since we're now on v16 and have so many problems with it, we still have to run some projects under v14. So we really need to be able to see at a glance which version we're running.

Although the method advised previously worked first time, I found that, as soon as you installed a hot-fix, the banner reverted to default. Just plain 'ARCHICAD'.

Also, later versions didn't seem to have the same attributes in the Info.plist

Now, when I try it, I can't even get to the 'Show Package Contents' stage when I right-click the app.

Any clues, anyone?
