We really need something more than a simple rectangular casing for doors and windows. As much as I love clean, simple lines for a modern aesthetic our firm does a number of historic renovations. There are work arounds, but being able to use profiles would be a huge leap forward.
Casing itself requires some changes.
It is really essential to assign separate surfaces to casing, see surface 1 and 2 in the picture attached. I mean different material for casing list and turned in part. Sonetimes sides can be finished with gypsum and woden list around.
And casing must have overlap ability and maybe "nosing" feature for the top board. This is essential for wooden houses!
