Graphisoft might like to consider making their GDL central web site a bit more compelling as a resource
Site currently opens & appears to consist entirely of a blurb saying why GDL parts are good & what parts were added back in 2002 – pointless info to anyone who actually wants to access the parts or see what is on offer. Exactly the wrong place to advertise – this info should be in a sidebar if not a separate page that is accessed if required.
Why is access to what is effectively advertising material password restricted? -Eliminate the login process!
You lose the password every time you reinstall windows, unless you happen to have written it down & not lost it amongst hundreds of other passwords. Just having to look it up is enough to prevent casual access.
At least make the “request lost password” function actually deliver your password, or indicate when it will be delivered rather than instantaneously flicking you back to the login screen.
I am still waiting for my lost password after ½ hour & have no confidence that it will arrive at all - the lack of feedback when clicking to submit request is not encouraging.
At least make the requirement to log in to access the libraries a bit more evident – currently the login option is just one amongst many, & I for one had no idea that this was not just some special website administrator access thing. & almost gave up when I couldn’t find any libraries.
Site should simply open with a directory tree with direct links to all available parts by category that you can just click on, rather than having objects a few steps removed – and ideally parts should be accessible directly within library manager rather than requiring separate process to access. – after all, the advertisers only win if their product samples are instantly and conveniently placed in front of potential customers.
Current system is archaic & very inefficient!
Advistising the GDL technology is pointless in this context - in fact manufactures are only interested in selling product, and users are only interested in the libraries - why not just bring the two together with as few barriers between as possible, to the the benefit of both?. Only this way will GDL flourish as an advertising medium
I suspect most users just give up & seldom if ever return – a fact which is not likely to attract new manufacturers.
Cheers
