Level Dimension to Reference Level (sea level)

Can we please-please have the option to choose to reference the level dimension to a reference level other than project zero BEFORE we place the marker on plan?

I know there's a work around to change the dimension text after the level dimension has been placed but I would like to see it as an option to be selected in the tool's settings PRIOR to placing the level dim on plan...

I don't understand why it is not there already, the option is available on the (normal) dimension tool when one chooses the 'elevation dimension' then one can choose 'dimension origin'... so why is it not there on the Level Dimension tool is really beyond me!

I too struggled with this, but the work around is really quick.
I place the level dimensions, gravitating to the mesh. At this point they are referencing the project zero.
Using Find & Select, I select all level dimensions.
Then, add to the selection a level dimension text box, (shift click)
(this changes the info box settings to "level dimension text settings")
Change text from "measured value" to custom and use the "altitude" autotext. All level dimensions will change.

Voted essential.
I'd also like to add the ability to choose the altitude from sea level as the readings on the Elevation and Section Story lines (is there a workaround already??). These days more councils are requiring drawings to be submitted with levels to AHD (Australian Height Datum - ie. height above Sea Level)

The Built-In Story Marker has this.

Arrrgh. Thanks David. I never dreamed switching to Story Marker AUS 17 would be a BACKWARDS step!? That's my reward for wanting to set up a template with the newest possible settings. Sheesh.

Why this is still unresolved???

Let's celebrate the 8th anniversary for this wish. I've just learned to use favorites and I want save level dimension with sea level height to our office template. But I can't.

If only that worked... it would be a decent enough solution...

It does work.
Make sure you follow all the steps.
Select all the dimensions and then select one of the texts as well, so you get the text editing box.
Make your changes and all selected dimensions will change.

You still can't set the default for future dimensions which is the problem.

Selecting a Level Dimension Text Box after selecting Levels doesn't change the dialog to the text one for me... As long as I have a Level Dimension node selected it gives me the Level Dimension Selection Settings...

As soon as you SHIFT-click to select the text the info box should change to the text options.
