Master layout info - Display order control

It would be great if master layout entities automatically had a display order at the mid point between front and back on any layouts they appear in.

Currently, master layout elements are always at very back in display order in layouts , meaning that is not possible to have a subtle colour or fill in a placed drawing or image run off the edge of the sheet behind the title & other entities from Master Layout

This is a particularly grating and unprofessional looking limitation when it comes layouts containing presentation graphics & images

Same issue when using Revision Manager - revision history listing object needs to be on master layout, meaning revision details are obscured by fills on placed drawings unless user anticipates the final length /amount of empty space required by any future revision history, and makes ugly notches in placed drawings to accommodate them.

If images and fills in drawings are plain & light in colour/tone, there is no graphical reason why master layout entities & text should not be allowed to display in front of them if user wants.

Not entirely true - you can display the master layout info above the layout, via project preferences.

Cheers,

Thank you!!! I never saw that before - This forum yet again proves it's value.

My wish still stands (though with lower priority now) - it could still be useful to have some elements in front (eg for deliberate one off masking of certain things on master title), and some behind master layout elements (eg images) in the same layout, or on different layouts in same project

Cheers

I agree! Displaying the master at a mid level would be useful sometimes.

Right click on a layout, and select Master Layout Settings from the menu. As stated though this will bring Masters to front in all layouts.
