The above Apple tip is nice as I did not know about this double-click
and option-double-click methods.

It works nice in the Open/Save part of Apple applications and would
be nice to have in ArchiCAD.

I don't know how to relate it to the importance levels of the poll,
but now that I know its possible, it comes to mind nearly everytime
I use Open/Save in AC which seems to say something. Enough to write
about it here.
I would hope it is a simple thing to do.

You can already do this.

Interesting, it does not work on my system.
Again, I'm talking about within the Open or Save interface of
AC, not the Finder interface.
I can manually stretch a column but the double-click or
option-double-click does nothing.

Oh, I'm sorry, I mis-read that. I thought you were just looking for the resize capability.

Weird that it's not there already, since I would have thought that was part of the the OS API tie-in

Great tip Michael.

I suspect, but do not know for a fact, that this is the result of Apple's apps (Safari, Preview, etc) being written with Cocoa and AC being written primarily with pointed charcoal sticks on stone tablets. Note also that AC does not support sheets or OS level spell checking or any of the other great stuff (quartz extreme, advanced type services, bla bla bla) that comes with Cocoa development --in short, all the stuff that makes using a Mac so nice.
