Profile function for curved walls

The profile tool is nice but only works for straight walls.

Come on - its the 21st century - we need more curvy wall, give us the tools OK.

I believe that everyone (GS included) recognizes the importance of this. I expect that it would be done already but for the complexity of the task. I hope we'll see this in AC11 along with truly curved roofs.

Till it is available, try to do it using Magic Wand and many straight Wall segments. Not the best but close.

The customised profiles of walls should be able to be adapted to curved walls aswell as straight walls. If this is a function of the wall tool it should be able to be used as a full functioning wall.

It is not just a matter of having ondulating queer looking walls.

I have been using this tool to make 3D detailing I used to do with profiler but with the autointersection advantage:
- top of walls and in metal sheets (don´t know english term, sorry)
- basement wall drainage (ditto).

These elements help a LOT towards 2D free documentation, but I can not do them on curved walls.

So, I repeat. Custom profiles should be possible in curved elements.

yes, i agree! i believe the profiler tool and profile manager should be used on curved elements (like crown moldings on cylindrical spaces). there also needs to be a resolution setting because the resolution on the curved crown molding using the profiler tool is too choppy. light shines thru the gaps!

the profiler should be able to be drawn like the spline tool so that you can draw straight profiles & curved profiles seemlessly. the connection between the curved profile piece and the straight profile piece is never clean.

Making curved complex profiles is important, especially when emulating that great "UltraFlex" Moulding.

However, it isn't as bad as some of us think.

Magic Wanding a spline with the BEAM tool seems to give pretty good results once you dial up the segment interval.

Thanks, ArchiBen....

Dunno.

Why wouldn't it?
It is simply applying standard tools and techniques.

No magic in this once you know that the beam tool bends.

Like, irony, eh? Beam are supposed to be straight,eh? Haha.

And look at this, too: Rotation in the pette palette. Can't make the stretching work, however.
