Retain AutoCAD Xclips

Hi all,

This query has been around for a while with no response so I figured I would make a wish. Currently Xclips are ignored by ArchiCAD. This means that if you bring in a drawing that contains Xclips into ArhiCAD you end up getting a whole lot of extra lines which should not exist.

If you place your DWG into ArchiCAD as a drawing (using drawing tool) - you can easy change the shape, as it would be the fill. So, it works very similar as Xclips.

You have completely lost me there... Change the shape of what? What fill? Changing the extents of the placed drawing is pointless in many cases as said xclips maybe overlapping the desired parts of the drawing.

The placed drawing on the floor plan represented as one object, that possible to modify as it would be a fill. Actually the same way how drawing, that placed on Layout.

... and a drawing placed on a Layout cannot be modified without opening the View that it is linked to, which in the case is equivalent to opening the DWG file, of which the ignored xclip originates from...

@Lingwisyer Any possibility you can bring the dwg in as a drawing and clean up the view by modifying the source layer settings? I have had drawings like this, if it is just for use as a trace simply turn off everything and rebuild with the required layers. Assuming the source has followed some kind of layer discipline... 🙄

In one case (dwg from Vectorworks) it was easier just to work from a well dimensioned pdf.

And as a last resort an exploded pdf.

Apple iMac Intel i9 / macOS Sonoma / AC27UKI (most recent builds.. if they work)

I actually did not think of working from a vector PDF. It is snaps properly, that would actually work perfectly.
